Privacy notice

Personal information and enquiries relating to this trial website.

Updated 7 November 2026Scope This public development website

Who is responsible for your information

Christian Pengelly operates JanusLabs and is the data controller for personal information handled for this website and related enquiries. A data controller is the person who decides why and how personal information is used. See the website operator disclosure.

JanusLabs is a personally run software project in development. For a privacy enquiry, rights request or complaint, contact hello@januslabs.co.uk. You do not need an account.

This is a trial website for explaining and testing a proposed product. Public app access, customer onboarding, subscriptions and payments are unavailable. This notice describes the website and enquiries about it, rather than a future customer application.

What information may be used, and why

  • Website delivery and security: the hosting platform may process technical request information, such as your IP address, requested page, request time and browser information, to deliver pages, maintain availability and investigate abuse. The basis is legitimate interests in operating and protecting this website.
  • Enquiries: if you email, your email address, message and anything you choose to include are used to respond and manage relevant follow-up. The basis is legitimate interests in responding to enquiries. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or confidential customer records.
  • Privacy requests and complaints: relevant correspondence and the information needed to handle a request may be used to meet legal obligations and keep an appropriate record of the response.

There is no account registration, payment collection, mailing-list sign-up or file upload on this website. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Example reports and the separate Pilot

The demonstration uses a fictional example product, an original illustration, sample figures and original buyer-comment and answer excerpts. They are not customer records, collected forum posts or outputs from the AI services named in the illustration.

The mock audit opens the same example report for every URL. The URL you type is not submitted or used to run a scan. Reading these pages does not send your details or your question to an AI service.

The Pilot walkthrough separately publishes a limited observation about JanusLabs, its date, a short saved-answer excerpt and retained public source links. It does not publish a customer account or private evidence export. Contact us if you believe any published material concerns your personal information.

Who may receive information

The public website is hosted through Vercel. Hosting providers process the technical information needed to deliver and protect pages. If you email, the email services used by you and the project process that correspondence. These service providers may also use subprocessors to operate their services.

Information may also be disclosed where legally required, to handle a legal claim or obtain professional advice. Website enquiries are not offered for sale or provided to other organisations for their own marketing.

Providers may process information outside the UK. The location, retention and protections depend on the provider and service configuration; this notice does not assert that all information stays in the UK. Ask hello@januslabs.co.uk about a particular record or provider. See Vercel’s privacy notice for its own practices.

External links take you to another provider’s website, whose privacy and cookie arrangements apply when you visit it.

How long information is needed

Enquiry correspondence is needed while answering the enquiry and any reasonably related follow-up. A record may need to be kept longer to handle a complaint, meet a legal obligation or establish, exercise or defend a legal claim. The purpose of the record, whether the matter remains open and any applicable legal requirement determine the period.

Technical logs and provider backups are subject to the hosting or email provider’s applicable retention and deletion arrangements. There is no customer account or automated account-deletion system on this website. You can ask about the information held in connection with your enquiry or request its deletion, subject to applicable legal exceptions.

Cookies and browser storage

The current website code does not set cookies or use local storage, session storage, advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. The decorative pointer effect stays in your browser and is not sent to a server.

Technical hosting logs are separate from browser cookies. See the cookie notice for the scope of these statements. These arrangements need reassessment before adding analytics, accounts or other features.

Your data protection rights

Depending on the information and legal basis, you may ask for access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where consent is used, you may withdraw it. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions.

Send requests to hello@januslabs.co.uk. Include enough information to locate the relevant correspondence. Identity checks may be needed where proportionate. Requests are normally answered within one month; if a lawful extension applies, you will be told why and when to expect a response. No fee is normally charged.

This website does not make solely automated decisions about individuals that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Questions, complaints and changes

For a data protection complaint, email hello@januslabs.co.uk with “Privacy complaint” in the subject. Complaints will be acknowledged within 30 days and considered, with the outcome communicated. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office; contacting this project first is not a condition of doing so.

This website is aimed at adults interested in a software project. Please report any concern about a child’s personal information through the same contact route. This notice will be revised when the website’s actual features or handling of information change; the date above identifies this version.
