JanusLabs’ own buyer guide
Choosing an AI visibility tool
Three buying decisions: inspect the evidence, choose the workflow and compare equivalent UK costs.
How do platforms compare on answer evidence, citations and accuracy checks?
Start by opening one result. You should be able to follow it back to the exact question, the original dated answer, the service and the sources that answer cited. Check the market and collection conditions too. A summary score alone cannot show whether the answer described the right business.
Check accuracy against confirmed facts
Neither a mention nor a citation proves factual correctness. Compare claims about your identity, products, services, prices and availability with reliable, current business facts. Open the cited source and check whether it supports the specific claim. A wrong-business match is different from a missing mention.
AI can propose classifications and diagnoses, but a factual review should retain the supporting excerpt, the reviewer’s decision and unresolved uncertainty. Missing evidence should stay unknown. Check how easily you can correct an assessment without changing the saved original answer.
Ask a supplier to demonstrate
- An original answer, its timestamp, exact question, service and cited URLs.
- Separate counts for mentions, recommendations and citations, with usable-answer denominators.
- Failed or unavailable readings, shown apart from genuine absence.
- A wrong-business or inaccurate answer, including the factual review and any correction.
- Access to retained evidence and any retention or export limits.
Should I choose a dedicated AI tool or an SEO platform with AI tracking?
Choose around the work your team needs to do. An SEO platform may be suitable when AI tracking belongs alongside your existing search research, technical checks and reporting. A dedicated AI visibility tool may suit a team concentrating on fixed buyer questions, saved answers, cited sources and follow-up measurements.
These are buying considerations, not claims about every supplier in either category. Ask for a demonstration using a question your own buyers ask, and compare the actual plan you would buy.
| Your main need | What to check |
|---|---|
| A wider search workflow | Whether the SEO platform joins AI results to the research and reporting your team already uses. |
| Detailed AI answer investigation | Whether the dedicated tool retains original answers, separates outcomes and lets you inspect and review the evidence. |
| Measuring after a website change | Whether either tool records the publication date and compares unchanged questions under compatible conditions, with failures and uncertainty visible. |
If you need people to write content or secure changes on other websites, assess that work separately. Measurement software does not itself establish that an action is justified or that it will improve an AI answer.
How should a UK business compare pricing and coverage?
Build the same measurement basket for each supplier before comparing the price. “Questions”, “prompts”, “credits” and “readings” may mean different things. Ask whether one question asked of three services uses one unit or three, and whether repeat readings consume more allowance.
- Match the services and conditions. List each included service by name. Check UK country, language, location and device settings. Establish whether collection observes a public search interface or uses a developer API as a proxy; these are different measurements.
- Match the question allowance. Check brands, domains, fixed questions, repeat readings, service-specific limits and any shared allowance.
- Match the frequency. Confirm the schedule per service, whether you can rerun readings and the cost of additional measurements. More frequent reading is not automatically more reliable evidence.
- Check failure handling. Ask whether failed readings are retried, charged, refunded or taken from the allowance, and whether they are excluded from visibility denominators.
- Match evidence access. Confirm original-answer retention, cited sources, factual review, export access and retention after cancellation.
- Calculate the total UK cost. Record the quote date, currency, exchange-rate assumption, VAT, billing commitment, additional seats, domains and overage costs. Compare the same period and scope.
Use this calculation with a current written quote: base plan + required add-ons + extra readings + applicable VAT and currency costs. Check the supplier’s billing terms rather than assuming failed readings are free.
No named suppliers, rankings or current competitor prices are included here. Plans change; check dated first-party pricing and feature documentation, then confirm the details with the supplier before buying.
Where JanusLabs intends to fit
JanusLabs is developing a question-to-evidence-to-improvement workflow: retain an answer and its sources, check the business facts, prepare a justified website change, verify publication and compare later compatible answers. It is intended for businesses selling physical products, services and digital products online. The broader use cases have not all been validated.
Our own UK Pilot uses 20 fixed questions across ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews. This is measured Pilot scope, not a promise of commercial coverage, reliable daily monitoring or a finished subscription.
Public app access and client onboarding are not available. If you need an operational tool now, evaluate current suppliers against the checks above. Our Pilot is an early demonstration, not proof of customer results or a visibility improvement.

Sources, authorship and limits
This is JanusLabs’ own buying guide, prepared for local review on . It describes questions to ask when evaluating software; it is not an independent supplier benchmark.
- JanusLabs methodology: our intended evidence and review workflow.
- Our Pilot observation: a short example checked against the original saved record, with its verification limits.
- Plans and availability: provisional concepts, not an offer.
Named supplier features, prices and comparative advantages require dated first-party evidence before being added. A citation to this guide would not be an endorsement or evidence that its claims are correct.
